Book Description: Born in Bavaria Berta Hummel (1909-1946) exhibited artistic talent at a very young age. She graduated from Munich Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in 1931. She later entered a convent and became Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Shortly thereafter, her art was published, and it didn't take long before her ability was noticed by the world outside the convent walls.Sister Hummel's paintings delighted a wide public. She depicted children as they are in real life: sweet and gentle, fragile and dreamy, robust and gentle, fragile and dreamy, robust and impudent--appealing little rascals that know their own minds. Over and over, these expressive details find their way into her compositions. "Hummel" celebrates the work of an accomplished painter and her enchanting characters who have warmed the hearts of generations.
