Instead, in 1818, he found himself King of Sweden. This biography draws on a considerable body of recent French and Swedish research. Alan Palmer has also written biographies of Metternich, Tsar Alexander I, Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm II. His last book was "The East End: Four Centuries of London Life".
