This is an annual publication, designed as an anthology and reference, to keep the people interested in implementing quality management up-to-date with thoughts and ideas in the field. The book includes a selection of articles and chapters from several different current books and periodicals. The goal is to expose readers to a wide sampling of the best and most recent materials on the quality perspective to managing and references for learning more and doing more in this area. This edition features articles that provide a perspective on where quality management and its practices stand as the new millennium gets under way. It includes commissioned articles in the areas of manufacturing, services, and the public sector, as well as original articles in areas such as leadership, knowledge management, and other areas. Highlighting the cutting edge developments and trends is an additional way to enhance the value of this book to our readers. As the book has evolved, we have also started to include original material. This continues in the 2002 edition. These articles come from some previous contributors and some new ones. We have continued to select articles by other prominent thinkers in this field, but always with an eye to pieces that combine practice with insight. The yearbook is a regular compilation of material related to this subject available.
