This book by F. Scott Fitzgerald is unusual. He began what would perhaps have been his most mature and complete work. THE LAST TYCOON is the story of Monroe Staht, a character Fitzgerald based on Hollywood boygenius Irving Thalberg, the film empire he is driven to create, and the woman he tried to love. Fitzgerald's fifth and final novel is both epic and intimate. He left only these chapters, his outline, and his notes. Yet even in its imcomplete state THE LAST TYCOON affords us one of the best looks inside the Golden Age of Hollywood.
