This workbook, made up of seventeen guided exercises and Student CHIP software, utilizes quantitative and qualitative analysis designed to make students challenge stereotypes of gender. The exercises in this workbook are designed to teach skills and concepts needed to think scientifically about gender. Students will learn how to formulate and test hypotheses, select an appropriate technique, utilize the technique and how to analyze and interpret results. CHIP is a simple statistics program, easy enough to use without advanced knowledge of computers or statistics. Gender and Social Life: A Workbook can be used independently or with any gender text or reader. When used in combination with Gender and Social Life by Roberta Satow, the data analysis exercises follow the same sequence of topics, allowing students to test hypotheses from the reader with empirical data.
