    Book Description:
Erieta Attali: In Extremis: Landscape into Architecture presents a cartography of contemporary global architecture, focusing upon the close relationship between different building types and the landscapes in which they are situated, illuminating the resonances and contrasts, continuities and discontinuities between new work and the natural or urban environment. The photographs identify unlikely affinities between projects located in very disparate places (from the Atacama desert in Chile to arctic Norway, from glaciers in Switzerland to the suburbs of Japan). Taken with a large-format camera using long exposures, the photographs are receptive to the broad spectrum of the perceptual world, attentive to subtle changes in light and weather conditions that may reveal what is invisible to the human eye, and to habitual patterns of consuming the world, surpassing the realm of objective or commonsensical experience, recreating a transcendental one, at the borders between reality and fiction. Designed by Henk van Assen, the book will also include contributions from Alessio Assonitis, Kenneth Frampton, Juhani Palaasma, Dimitri Philippidis, Jeannette Plaut, Jilly Traganou.
